I have a new siren in hand and would like to replace the old one but what do I replace the rivets with or do I have to get new ones from Volvo? Also in the book it says you have to have to have the siren programed, how can I do that or is that another Volvo hook in me?......This is for a 2000 S80 by the way.....Thanks

:) Most anything thats riveted can be bolted back in place..On the siren thing I'd bet that it must be programmed by Volvo, due to the existing vehicle computer not recognizing the new alarm...Give Volvo a call for a positive answer..

okay, i've shifted your question into the S80 forum. now when you say siren, the whole package including sensors, or just the siren part? if it's just a new siren, just install it, no need for reprogramming since the module is the same, if it's a different system all together, unless you are cutting out the stock unit, you will need to mate them up so that they talk to each other.

Installation
Connect the connector. Position the siren. Tighten the screws for the siren. Tighten to: 10 ± 2.5 Nm
Remove any rivet swarf. Rivet the wing liner into place
Install the splash guard.
Note! The siren must be configured after replacement. This is carried out via VIDA communication.

Funny thing is even if you do not configure the alarm siren it works ok. It may not have the same security or functionality as a configured siren though as not matched to your vehicle. no software required to configure.

yup, but like I say still seems to work even if you dont. The configuration procedure must be there for some reason, though im not sure why.

I will add that there are many cars out there without configured sirens and they seem to be causing no problems to the car/alarm system so I would not get to worried if yours not done.
