I Have been starting to have problems with my S70/SE when it downshifts into the lower gears. The shifting is rather ruff and abrupt at times. Seems it only does this when it is warm. Can anyone advise me what this may mean.

not mistaken, it might be a software problem. it seems that i read a post about something similar. do a search in the 70 forum. it was either a software or it was a solenoid.

Thanks for the info. I did have the transmission flushed and servced 50K however this problem only started a few month ago. I will maybe try another flush then see were we go. Thank again.

Thanks for the info. I started by having the transmission flushed and the problem is better however still there. Seems that the ruff shift happens between 2 and 1st gear. Not all the time. I will check into the software issue and see if that will help. If anyone else has had this problem and can advise I would be greatful.

I'm having the same problem with my 2000 v70, it hangs up downshifting from 2nd to 1st. it also seems to do it only when you deaccelerate quickly, if you slow down gradually it shifts smoothly. i've got 168K miles on the car, but it was find up to a few thousand miles ago. did you find an answer on your problem?

My '99 V70 w/ 90k does the same thing. I'll be interested to see what you find out.
