Well i was in the market for a GPS and didn't want to deal with the hassle of removing the factory stereo (which I like anyways) so I went with the new Volvo system. Let me start off by saying the install directions are great and mount is pretty good. MY only complaint is the unit is sitting at a slight angle. I used the template provided but the angle of the mount is just a little askew. Not to bad just noticeable. During the install I didn't remove the vent cover because it didn't want to come out and I didn't want to break it. That really wasn't needed because you can feed the wire right up past it. So far I have had it for about a week and the GPS seems to work very well. It has a fast boot time and finds the signal really quick. I like the Garmin line anyways due to the features and easy use.

maybe it's meant to be like that. i had purchased one of those g-units for my impala SS. it's a device that posts 0-60, 1/4 mile time, g's in turns, etc. anyway, however i hard mounted it, it was crooked, until another owner told me it was made like that so that it could be tilted for only the driver to see. like how fighter pilots and race car drivers would wear their watched upside down to see the time without moving their hands and their heads. just a thought. it might also be all this heat in the kitchen is making me light headed.

Here are some pics although I didn't take any during the install due to the complete ones you can get right off the net.
The unit is powered off the cradle and has a built in battery it draws power to charge from the 12v cig lighter outlet in the center console.
It has a built in speaker that work pretty well. You can use the built in fm transmitter and tune your radio to the station but then you got no tunes. You can how ever use the SD slot and put your music on it.
All in all it is a very nice unit and I am extremly happy with it.

Is it hardwired to the stereo, or do you have to have it set on a FM channel. Can you listen to you cd and still here the nav instructions?

Thanks,
Rich

I'm not quite sure what you mean by the Volvo system using the Garmin GPS?
