I have a 2002 V70 2.4 (not turbo). The Rear door locks and Fuel gage seem to go off line intermittently. Locks will not respond to the key fob and when running the car fuel gage reads empty and fuel light is on. Also noticed that the wiper in the rear was also not working. Have searched the forum and noticed that this has happened to a few people in the past. Problem started when the weather got warmer but seems to be happening all the time. Did locate the control module behind a panel in the cargo area and checked all fuses and removed and replaced all relays. Just found out today that when I pull the 15 amp fuse supporting the module itself and replace than everything starts working for a few a little while (hour maybe) then goes off again. Has anyone diagnosed this and is there a know fix?? Need help cant lock the truck. Thanks

Heard thru the grapevine that the REM (Rear Electronics Module) needs replacement I was hoping that someone might know how much that this repair will cost. Need to know how big of a loan to get :liebe011:

I've had that same problem (for a few years now) and just took my car in again this week. The first time (a couple of years ago), the dealer apparently upgraded some software and it seemed to work. This time, I removed and reinstalled the fuse and it worked (for a day). The problem happens when the car is left out in the sun on a warm day. Now, I'm told that the software is up to date and that the module is defective. Anyway, the repair cost at my dealer (San Diego, CA) is around $900.

It is definately the same thing. Mine works in the morning when the temp is below 75 degrees and then stops shortly after that. Did some research on volvotech web site

VolvoTech web site

and there is a service letter out on it . From what I can see (not paying the 6 bucks) the software fix was the suggested solution. So it sounds like it will not work for me either but hey I am going to be into it for a shop hour anyway to diag the problem so might as well have then load the new software.

Thanks for confirming the price.

Well an update to my long standing battle with problem. Did a lot on internet searching and found that there might be a tech note out on this problem but like everything you can not get any information without paying for it. Does anyone have access to tech note. The number is 37-08 and deals with the REM not waking up.
