I need new struts on my 1998 V90. I've seen some posts and recommendations suggesting that the strut mounts should be replaced at the same time. Is this really worthwhile? I would expect to replace the mount bearing either way, but are the other parts of the upper mount just generally deteriorated with time and mileage? I'm wondering because i see wide price ranges for upper mounts, and am not really sure why that is or if these mount kits include all of the parts which need replacement? Does a mount kit for one brand accomodate another manufacturers' strut? The car has 195K, and current struts have at least 100k on them. Any good links to additional info on this subject?

change everything at the same time, better in the long run. that way you won't have to do the job twice. try fcpgroton.com for your volvo parts. that is our best friend here. good luck. keep us posted.
