Hello there, sorry for the late reply, well I booked the car in for a service at volvo as i had the trans service message on, so they sorted that out with an oil change, along with the engine oil, oil filter, pollen filter and they carried out the TCM upgrade, after all this the mpg has improved to about 15mpg in normal city driving conditions and driving sensibly! my question is 15mpg normal? and yes i do not think that they have changed the spark plugs or the airfilter, as this was not stated on the bill,

Regards

i would call them on that. i mean, 15 mpg, for me is fantastic, but i also try to get from point a to point b as fast as possible and hitting as many letters in between  anyway, get that straightened out, i also don't think that the plugs wires and filter have been done. real easy, check the filter yourself. you know where it is, right? just look. look at the wires, are they dirty? if so, they didn't change them. the service was just done, so they should be nice and clean, unless you went off-roading and forded a river. keep us posted please.

Hello there ye ive checked the airfilter it was dusty, so ye ive ordered a replacement kN panel filter, about hte plugs i aint checked them yet, will do later, and yes dont you think they should have already replaced the air filter if it was dusty? the service costed me £445! plus the additional work which needs to be carried out such as the track rod ends and the anti roll bar links, and rear brake pads, the brake pads will be fitted by this week, any other suggestions? and thanks for helping :D ive only had the car for 3 months now, it was due for a service wen i bought it, so i thought id just book it in for a service at volvo, cus the service book was fully stamped by volvo main dealer didnt wanna spoil it lol

WHOOOOOOO!

I have a 2001 ex police T5 mileage 144,000 and I am not particularily easy with my right foot. However i average 23mpg in normal conditions i.e. a mixture of round town and motorway but if I reset and do motorway only about 28mpg. The only mod that I know of is that I have a gearbox from a D5 as it was the only one that I could get hold of when the old one died. Has changed the performance slightly but not by a lot. I use my car as a service engineer and this mileage includes driving with ladders on the roof! and a full boot of tools. You either have a problem or have a chanced upon one of the leanest T5s ever?

Mike
