Dear All,
maybe it is some strange for you to see unusual member on this area with not tipical question what are discussed here.
Firstly my short wailful story when my car stopped amid forest near of Moscow (25 km). It was 05 of December, 19-00 of evening, but thankfully the weather was not cold, about -10 degrees. From this moment I got a dark side for my life on next four months and maybe more.

It is truth in Moscow locate a lot of services which offer transmissions spare parts, but they are very expensive due to terminated market... As a result I had repaired all mechanical parts by way of exchanging these one into the gearbox - but a progress of hits are staying. During some not multiaspect actions (it were changings between of two Valve Bodies on my car) - all involved "professionalists" had common conclusion the matter in the Valve Body is bad. Me personnally had test drive on the different units and has feel not same connections of gears.
So I have a strong with to purchase Valve Body directly form EU. The only moment I am worried about is that there is a possibility of mismatching. Because all service man doesn't present guarantee for a new unit after installation...!!!

The questinos is, if it's really possible that purchased Valve body will not be suitable for my gearbox? And why?
If I will provide a supplier with all the references No-s, can I be sure, that the Valve body is exactly suitable?

For imformation I give here the transpission and Valve body type:

VOLVO V70 XC (Cross Country)
type of engine: В5244Т
Number of engine: 2209531

The reference of my existing module - valve body, sonnax, AW55 - 50SN :
1) First number on the valve body - Casting on the first plate: 9165 Т1
2) Second number on the second plate: 12010378
3) Third number on the third plate: 11310970

GearBox is:
Aisin AW Co., ltd
Made in Japan
55-50SN
9480
897
Serial No. 01BV70028

Does anybody know if the valve body is absolutly standard and I can purchase it for sure? Or are there some modifications possible, and I need to find out more imformation? For me is typical breakdown of part from Sonnax company (Producer of Valve Body for ASIN Warner) - but isn't typical dark situation with a new units installation to my old transmission.
Thank you.

hey man, sorry to hear about your problems. first, are you sure about it being the valve body? if so, from what i hear, it is the same. as long as you list the engine type and the transmission type, they will ship the correct part. i don't think that they made too many different valve bodies. good luck.

I will be glad to have same simple final but no single service men and saler informed me about some risks after changings. It means that a gearbox will have not adequate functions.
Maybe last time some people not clear imaged about differente producers for same problems - because we have three companies for one solution:
- volvo (with special references for spares);
- AISIN (with more available information);
- Sonnax (it is direct producer for this modul: http://www.powerglide.com/index.php).

Somebody talks about 70 % of successfull result after installation new one.
For me will be more interest to get some comments from volvo owners who have same problems and repairing with good end.

- Valve body HS-code: 8409910000
- Country of origin: Japan !!!

Could anybody say for me is it correct and is it in accordance with my Gearbox and car in general???????
I am going to do prepayment in Monday (07-04-2008) evening and I hope to get your reaction before.
The transportation with customs clearing this parcel to spend near one week and then I am going to inform members this site about a result installation of module.

Yes, it truth, for new one the country of origin is Japan. Tomorrow I hope to get new unit from Latvia with cost 900 eurs (appr. 1350 $) by DDR terms. At the same time I got the offer from Finland with 1116 eur (1674 $). I had good interest to get any pricing from U.S.A (or Canada ) with more cheaper offer - but after my five-six request I didn't get anything positive answer!!! I think same business a small and dark for their saler and I can understand.. Of couse I was ready to send prepayment 100%.

Also yesterdad I agreed with one service im Moscow to do changing this unit. Really it was not easy deal because all serious services refused to do that. They affraid for resalt as they doesn/t know abot conditions for the metall parts into the gearbox. Although in December I did full capital repairing for this one. And only after test driving serviceman to presented for me strong arguments that the matter is into the hydro modul (valve body).
So, let's wait one week till this changings.

Now in Moscow (Moscow region) - it is near 30-50 millions cars - very and very meagre market of spare parts for transmission in general and for Volvo in particular.
