my 1980 DL (245 wagon) had a speedometer problem so I remover the instrument cluster to fix it. When I re-installed it my tachometer did not register. As I remember there are two wires coming of the speedometer (left side as you face it, square design not round) one wire is grey the other blue, I thought the blue went on top and the grey is the bottom. There was one wire off the tach which I thought was brown, but the only loose wire I cound find was black. I went to the local library to look in ALLDATA but the earliest year they provide info on now is 1982. Did I switch the blue and grey wires? I don't want to burn something out? Is the black wire the correct one for the tach, but why would it not work? thanks in advance. :liebe011: (just out of curiosity does anyone own a xc70 wagon, are they reliable?)
