First off I will say my Names Sam. Im 15 years old. Pretty mad when it comes to cars :haha: Knowledge is limited but I know how an engine works and pretty handy when It comes to electronics.
Right now my Dads got a 4 year old Ford Mondeo ST220.
Two weeks ago he ordered a Volvo V50 R-Design with the T5 Manual Engine. Were having it in ICE White with Black leather. Also 18" Medusa Alloys that will be booked in for a refurb in Anthracite.
Quick question is the interior shows that the dash has numbers for a mobile phone and the steering wheel has buttons aswell. So does it come with bluetooth as standard. The reason I ask this is because my Dads company normally supplies him with a Bury phone kit but to have it fitted into the Volvo will cost in excess of a grand apparently so the company arent willing to do it. To be honest I don't believe it and I think its an excuse for them to pull out of fitting one. So does anyone know If it comes with bluetooth as standard?

Thanks, Bailes

now sam, you shouldn't be mad at the cars, be happy  okay, enough with that crap, yes it comes with bluetooth, as long as that option is part of a package. depends on the package that the car was ordered with, check the options that the car was ordered with. and then post some pics, would love to see the before and after of the rims. congrats to your dad and yourself and welcome to the forum.

Hello Sam. I do not know what options are available to your dad in your location at present. Bluetooth is now commonly fitted into the electronics of many new cars now so may be available. My V50 T5 AWD six speed was not available with factory-fitted Bluetooth just over a year ago but had the rather neat (and expensive) factory-fitted inbuilt phone that is fully controlled by the console & steering wheel buttons. The SIM card from a mobile phone has to be inserted into a hidden holder to activate the car phone. A copy of the SIM card is necessary to keep your mobile operating separately without transferring the SIM card back & forth. I suggest your dad check with the Volvo dealer. The console does have a lot of nifty functions for sound, security & lighting, etc. so you sould have fun helping your dad to understand these!

Sorry not meaning to hijack this thread.

I don't believe the V50 has bluetooth as standard or an option, not in the UK at least. Which is strange cause Ford has a great bluetooth setup.

As you mention the centre console alllows for an in-built phone that you can use with a SIM Card. This a very expensive option and one I have not opted for - does anyone know what would be needed to activate this function? Obviously all the buttons are there and no doubt the wiring to them also - so there must be some type of unit that just plugs in? Anyone know what this unit is etc.??
