The car in question is a 2000 V40.

My wife got pulled over because her license plate lights were out. I checked the bulbs and fuses and didn't find anything wrong (other than the lights weren't on). So the next time I took the car into the dealer I had them look at it. They told me it was the computer. Apparently the computer was giving an internal error. I don't remember the exact code. I'm having a hard time shelling out the cash for a new computer to fix a license plate light.

I did a little more investigating on my own and I found that there was 12 VDC across the fuse terminals for the position lights but still no voltage (or light) at the bulbs. To me that sounds like the computer is doing its job and sending the current and there is something wrong with the wiring down the line. Is my logic flawed? Is there something other than wire between the fuse and the lights? If one of the lights on that circuit were to go out would that render the entire circuit dead? Any insight would be appreciated.
