Hi,

I recently got a 1996 volvo 440 and it drives like a dream and everything is fine on it except it has a problem with the centrol locking.

The car came with remote central locking but this isn't working. Basically if i push unlock on the fob the doors won't unlock all that happens is the lights flash and the immobiliser is deactivated. Also what i understand is the immobiliser light keeps flashing whilst i'm driving. (The red light below the radio)

If anyone could shed any light on this matter it would be greatly appreciated. :)

hmm, is that original volvo or another brand (i have sikura, black remote with 2 keys, silver and blue). It came stock with 460 GLE.

it seems that your fob might have to be reprogrammed. either that, or there is a short or a drain in the system. if i am not mistaken, i think that the radio headunit on the models with a radio security code, is connected with your cars security system. now the question is , does your radio work? have you done any work to the radio, or the stereo system recently?

must be an Essex thing... I have same flashing light i think it needs a reset at the dealers or an independent maybe with the right equipment?
There's a few Volvo specialists in Essex if these are your neck of the woods?

I havent checked any of them out yet i'm just living with it.

My central locking works all the doors apart from the drivers one!
Did try and sort it out but was defeated by the weather, time and unemployment!
