getting the paint redone but unsure what's the best to get. was thinking of a bright candy red to save stripping the bodywork and having a different colour interior. but what about details? any ideas to really set the car off and make it stand out in the crowd?

I would think Bright Candyapple Red alone would make it stand out in the crowd

Personally, I would get trim pieces painted as well. Things like the door handles, door trim, drip molding on the roof, trim pieces on the side view mirrors, etc. Do you still have the body kit? If not get the black bumper trim painted too. I think I would do the grill also.

ona candy, i think that i would leave the trim a contrasting color just so that the candy has a chance to really pop. you can also go for one of those chameleon paint jobs. on a red car, the change is subtle, yet dramatic. that i would do the trim pieces since all the different planes on the car would be a different color. or, go for a fading candy, lighter on top darkening to a deeper candy on the bottom. when done right, it is breathtaking. either way, candy is an eye popper. post pics, let us salivate and try to convince the significant other that a new paint job is imperative.

didn't think of a fade job. had thought of maybe going candy red with a blue metallice flake laquer so it shines red and blue as it drives past. if i can sort this then i'll put loads of pics on. enough to make the better half drag you into the paint shop!

still looks basically the same as the pics except a black boot lid after some little swine broke into the old one. it's gonna have a lot of work done. she won't know what hit her. this includes:
*evolution stlye boot spoiler
*flushed bootlid. reg plate relocated into back bumper
*coilover suspension
*racing brake discs and pads
*fully ICE'd boot audio inc ps3
*sports cat converter
*wide bore throttle body
*remapped ecu
*resprayed alloys. same ones just repainted
*internal audio upgrade
*samco engine hoses
*smoothed bodywork

i think that's it! not going for fast, but volvo's are only slowly making it into the mod scene here so i want to be the one they all want to be like. never been the first before!

If money is no real object, have you looked into the Starlight paints? We used to have alocal shop that would do it, but the stuff is expensive (about $4000 for a car no larger than a Miata). It's really cool though and very nice looking. Depending on the time of day (basically the amount of light present), the paint will seem to change colors (it doesnt though, its the formulation and types of flakes they use). Nice Green during the day, turning pitch black later in the evening, and so forth.

Nice stuff, top notch paint, but very expensive. It's generally used on higher quality show cars though.
