Hey everyone, this is my first post. I am the recent new owner of a 1995 850 GLT Wagon. I am absolutely hooked on Volvo's. It's nice meeting everyone.
Here is my question.
How much of an oil leak will a broken dip-stick cause?
Feel free to make fun of the new guy too.

welcome to the forum. let's fix the prob, then the goofing begins. firstly, congrats on the 850, secondly-where did it break? did the handle come off and the dipstick went in or did the housing snap off at the base of the oil pan?

:00000732: Of course we'll make fun of you, you're a dipstick. Oh, sorry, you mean you broke your dipstick. Greek is asking the right questions, even if he is a dipstick.

I once asked how much would a new dipstick cost. The answer got me to roll my eyes up to the sales-clerk, and ask again, "How MUCH?"

:460: Ok, Ok. I deserved that. I absolutely know how forums are, I think this is my fourth or fifth one.

Well, The dipstick actually broke where the handle attaches to the stick
I can pull the dipstick out with the handle but I have to angle it to one side.

Thanks again for the quick responses and the ragging.

I'll post some pictures soon.
Thanks

if you can get it out, cool, get a new one from fcpgroton.com just remember to get the correct one. if you can't get it out, check with a flashlight to see how far down it is, you might be able to get it with a set of needlenose pliers or one of those extendable magnets. good luck. a little duct tape might help out the droopy dipstick.
