I can not play burned CDs in my 3 disc
changer. I believe it is the SC 901.

I was wondering if anyone has a solution to this
problem. I know this question has
been asked before. I just want to know
if there was ever a solution discovered
as I am new to the forum.

Hi,

Try a disk cleaner CD first. See if this fixes your problem.

My SC-901 likes Sony 700 MB CD-Rs better than other brands like Imation, for instance...

Also, 650 MB CD-Rs better than 700 MB...but these are difficult to get hold of these days...

So you've been able to burn Sony CDs and they play in
the SC 901? If so, please tell me the exact
type of Sony CDs. I would love to try them.

Hi,

I use the Sony CD-R that comes in a light-green label, model: 25CDQ80NSPD.

Link to SONY for this model:
http://www.sony.es/view/ShowProduct.action...tegory=CCF+CD-R

Note: This seems to be an old model now. I bought the 25 CD unit pack more than one year ago (only use them to burn Volvo CDs...).

Anyway, this CD works fine in my SC-901. I guess a newer Sony CD-R of similar characteristics should work fine as well...

I use an hp burner and nero as burner program (8x burn speed=slowest speed available).

It is very important that the radio lens is clean (no dust) for a troubleless reading.

Hope this helps!

Hey Thanks for the help. I'll give those discs a try. I tried the Sony yellow
CD-rs and unfortunately they wouldn't play. Thanks for being so specific about
the ones that are working for you.

Hi Guys and Girls, this is certainly a hot topic for the sc-901 players so i thought i should post my success.

For some reason my player has been so hard to get copies to play i have tried heaps of brands and various burning methods to no prevail.

Finally i have an answer and i finally got my copied discs to work. The type of CD,s im using are the Sony CD-R 700mb discs Model CDQ80S1, these discs use the supremas technology which is shown on the back of the case... this technology squares off the desk grooves so instead of a conventional disc having round grooves these have squared grooves.

I am using Nero Burning rom 6.3.0.2 and burning at 4x speed. I have also purchased a CD cleaner Phillips for about $14.00, this disc cleaner has small brushes on it and takes approx 2 mins to clean the car cd player when played.

The player now picks up the first track every time, the only draw back is that i still need to use the fast forward to move between tracks.

I hope i am saving someone else alot of time, i have spent ages trying to find this answer.

All the best

Adam

I have been frustrated by this since 2001. I've tried countless brands---sometimes sony works, sometimes sony won't, sometimes memorex gets spit out, sometimes only the first four tracks play. I've never found any disc that'll allow me to record 10 tracks, and be able to fast jump to any of them, except perhaps between 1 and 3.

In the last few years, only colored discs would work---and only disks made in Japan, not china. That rules out most brands, though I've found Taiyo Yuden works most of the time---but then again, I can't put 12 cuts on a cd, start it, stop the car, start up the car, and have the CD start playing again from that same point. It'll just grind, and grind, and grind.

I've tried cleaning discs, i've tried blasting air, etc. Purchased cds still work just fine.

My dealer tells me there still isn't a solution if I want to keep the pro logic. Nor is there an ipod adapter.
Is this still the case? I've put up with this for so long, and I love my car (2001 with only 60k), but I'd also love to be able to join the 21st century, media-wise. The fm modulator idea won't work ---we're in a top 8 market, and there aren't any free frequencies--you've got to retune every few miles. Using a cassette adapter gives better sound!

PS--yes, i've tried burning slow. burning fast. Burning in itunes. burning in toast, burning in nero, burning without tracks, making sure no track is longer than 5 min, etc. Really, we've tried just about everything since 2001! :57:

Cleaned the laser lens with a cotton bud, my 901 now plays any CD.

What did you do to calibrate it?
