I am not able to unlock my v40(2001) with the remote. As I don't want to
trigger the alarm I haven't opened the door manually yet, either.
So, To my questions:
1) Will the alarm go off if I open the door manually by using the key?
2) Then, what should I do?

I guess It's quite obvious that I know less than nothing about cars :)

don't worry, we all have start somewhere about cars. as to your question, yes you can open your door. no the alarm won't go off, you are using your key. now, why doesn't the key fob work? did your battery die and mess up the alarm key? if so,you need to have the key fob reprogrammed to work with your alarm system. if it was something else, you need to pinpoint what you have done and undo it. good luck and keep us posted.
