Hello,
My 1995 850 glt has an issue. Upon ignition the dash , radio all instrument lights turn on, then imediatly turn off. I cant see how fast im going, ac, time, etc.. What is wrong? on then off? bulbs work. Please help!

im not 100% on how the wiring is done on the volvo, but from what ive seen with some other old cars (pugs vws nissans), this could be to do with your head light switch stalk.. bad connection in there can sometimes cause a short, and out go the dash lights.
try wiggling the stalk or hitting around the dash to see if its a bad connection.
if you find this is the case... replace the stalk.
like i said though not sure how the volvo is wired up around here, but just something i have seen in the past.

Yes, everything works normal, it is very weird. I know the lights work, due to the fact that they turn on upon ignition. But then all of them except the radio tuning screen turn off. thanks for all answers!

I am sorry i cant be of much help at this point.

I would suspect the headlight switch or relay is the culprit.

I would have a look at the ignition switch. You may have to turn it just a little towards the start position when running. This has happened to me on a VOLVO 740. Just a thought.

This same thing has started to happen to my 95 850 too. Have you had any luck finding a solution on this one? Mine started fading out as soon as the car started but would come back on in a few seconds, but now they don’t come back on at all. If you found anything to help please let me know.

Somehow, i am still thinking on electrical connections...
