I was wondering if I could ask for some advice from anyone that knows what conversions are needed to export a 2005 XC90 T6 from USA to Canada. I know the obvious daytime running lights is needed, but does anyone else have any experience with this type of export/import from USA to Canada? I have asked Volvo Canada for some info, but have yet to receive anything yet.

Thanks in advance for the advice/feedback

How about - nothing....

I imported a '04 XC 90 last December into B.C. from Seattle.

Because Volvo is so safety concious, it meets or exceeds all Canadian standards.

Mine already had daytime running lights, so I would be surprised if yours didn't.

Canadian Tire can do both the Federal and Provincial inspections for you.

The paper work isn't cumbersome, but like anytime you deal with the Gov't, you have to have the right piece of paper at the right time.

U.S. Customs needs 3 working days, not including weekends, notice to clear the vehicle before you bring it over to Canada.

Don't forget to get a binder policy from your insurance agent to cover you while you drive the car before you get it fully insured here. You can't get insurance here until it is registered here, which won't happen until you get all you inspections done.

Good luck,

Michael

I just imported a 2005 XC90 T6 from California to Manitoba.

nothing to be changed. has the daytime running light already.

be careful though, Volvo canada doesnt like to see vehicles coming, they will try to convince you that you need a letter of compliance where they charge about 2 grand for.

you have to have a recall clearance letter saying that your volvo does not need any modifications and complies with all canadian standards - then you can convince RIV that its good. otherwise you will pay 2K to Volvo canada.

there are other import-forums about that topic.

I love mine, fully loaded and in a great condition.
