I've been trying to fix my sisters '96 850 sedan. The brake and tail lights don't work. I tested the bulb sockets, and there is no voltage. I've been trying to find the bulb failure relay. Can someone tell me where it is, and how to test it. I'd really appreciate help. She just spent $200 on another electrical problem; so I'd really like to help her with this one.

Thanks,

josh

open the hood, way back on the drivers side you will find a black box like a shoe box, open it and there are the fuses. if you have a haynes manual, or the owners manual, it will have a list of which fuses go for the lights. check them. if not. check to see if the connections to the light block is not bent or twisted. are both sides out, or only one?

If you search in this forum, i have once uploaded a photo of the the back of the fuse lid, with the details on the fuse numbers and what they are associated to. Search it dude.

Then check the fuse for the tail-light.

I've checked the fuses. They are good; and there is voltage to them. I couldn't find "tail lights" on the fuse list; I found "position lamps", and assumed that was it. Could someone confirm this? What is the next thing to check?

thanks-
josh

hey i was under the impression that the relay you are talking about is in the trunk on left side under the truck liner, near the light assembaly (sp?)

not with my car at the minute (its about 12k miles away) so i cant check that, but im sure ive seen someone mention about it being there....
