I own a 2004 XC90 and have recieved a message on the center navigation screen that read "The disc in teh DVD player can not be read please check disc. Has anyone every incurred this problem. Is it as simple as replacing the disc or is it the nav system.

Try a dvd player laser cleaner disc and see if that solves the problem. If not go to your dealer and ask them if they have a navigation software upgrade disc (or use another donor disc ((beg/steal/borrow)), if so get them to try update your car navigation with it. If even the upgrade disc cannot be read then likley your navigation dvd reader at fault and required.

I have XC90 D5 with navi. Had the same problems with the DVD unit.
I bought a cleaning disk but nothing improved.
So I went to a service where the unit was removed and lens cleaned.
After that I have no problems with any disk. But be careful with the lens!!!

I wrote one week ago for the same problem. I've tried to clean the lens whit a cleaning disk without success. After this, the Volvo Service updated the software but the screen is still out. I hope now in the forum... Can I try to remove the DVD's unit and clean the lens or is it too much difficult?
