damn salty, did you fish this one out of the lake? well, the flushes can wait for now. unless the fluids are reeeeaaallllly old. do all the mounts. then tackle bushings and suspension parts in one shot. clean the area around the pan to determine where the leak is. if the leak is serious, i don't think you need to flush since it leaked out anyway, sick as it sounds. question, are you doing the work yourself or a mechanic? is the mechanic at the dealership or and outside certified mechanic? if doing it yourself, check out fcpgroton.com for parts, great prices and everybody here agrees on them. if the mechanic is a certified (not dealership) mechanic, see if you can bargain on the work, see if he'll drop the price on repairs if you bring him the stuff. that way you know what you bought and the actual price. if it's the dealership, take aloooooooooooooot of aspirin. good luck and keep us posted.

You might not want to wait on the tranny flush. It is a "lifetime" fluid, but many have checked it, see the other Volvo forums, and found it well worn under 100K miles. A flush has also solved shifting problems for several folks.

The 5 speed P2's have an Aisin-Warner transmission that uses a unique fluid (not Mercon or Dexron compatible). It is very expensive from Volvo, but is available as Mobil 3309 from any Mobil lube distributor or online for about $4-5/qt. It is also the same as Toyota Type IV (they used the same tranny and some variants).

i agree on the flush, but if you are going to do it, don't do it with one of those vacuum/pumper types. with the pressure of the vacuum, it has caused lots of problems with other members trannys. better to fill and drain until it comes out clean, it will cost more that way, but at least it won't play havoc with all the internal seals. that's for the automatic, not so sure about the manual T5's
