I've recently bought a 2005 volvo s40. the car is great except for some minor annoyances, 1. driver seat rattles when i make a right hand turn, 2. Temp readings are way off, 3. wind noise from the windows. could anybody shed light on if there's fixes for these

I don't have problems with either 1 or 2. 3 I get some wind noise when there is a strong crosswind that hits the car while I'm driving at 70+mph on the highway, but other than that, nothing.

Sorr you're having problems, but I"m sure overall you'll really love your new car :)

05 S40, I'm assuming used. Has it been in an accident? Usually a new car doesn't have any of those problems, but used... you never know what you're getting. Did you notice this when you bought the car? Does it have a warranty still? If yes, take it to the dealer and tell the to fix it.
If no, then you either pay for it or try to fix it yourself.

For the wrong temp. readings you might have to go to the dealer and get a software update. The sensor itself is on your drivers side mirror, it's that little bump on the bottom.
Windy windows is a problem that most people have too. Usually what happens is the felt-material around the window seal wears out and glass gets stuck on the rubber so it doesn't go all the way up. You could try maybe lubricating the seals or get new ones. It could also be the DDM(Driver Door Module). You could take it to the dealer and they could adjust it so it rolls up a little higher. I don't know if it's bs, but that's what they supposedly did to my car. Can't say I notice the different, though. The windows itself swivels to the left and right(try rolling down haf way and moving the window with your hands side to side)
The Rattle Seat is something you have to figure out for yourself. It could be something loose(check all the hardware). Not sure what kind of rattle you're talking about(metal/plastic/soft/sharp/how loud?)

Hope this helps, PEACE :57:

thanks for your reply, The seat rattle is a cricking sound, come from an angular piece of steel connecting the seat back to the seat. Theres one bolt on the seat back which i've tightened already to no effect. The seat back seems to shift on the rail that connects to on the seat and this cannot be tightened. it happens on the side closest to the centre storage box. Haven't contacted the garage yet, is this a common problem?
