Hi, I have been a member in this forum as long as I bought a S80. I got a lot of helps here as much as the helps I got from Lexus forum (I use GS300 before). I really thank all of you for giving some useful suggestion. Today I also like to share something with you.

My S80 is 1999 2.5tdi, run 190,000miles already. The problem I had was the engine management light was showed in the dash board sometimes. At the end of that I found when I went to overtake some lorry on a hill (Glasgow to Oban). I could not overtake, ny speed is similar to the lorry's. It made those car drivers behind me be crazy because the lane could be used to overtake just 1miles only. I could not do that until the lane is end. Also I found the car accelerates poorly. It does not like a 2.5tdi. I have not driven diesel car before so I do not know about it. Also some body tells me diesel car always has a bit delay when accelerate. On a mortor way, I accelerate from 50mph to 70mph, I have to wait 3-5seconds and then the speed goes up. When I kept running at 70-80mph, the trangle indicated on the dash board and message told me to engine management enquiry and emmision control problem. when the speed down for minutes, the lights all disappeared.

Yesterday, I brought the S80 to Taggarts Volvo in Glasgow and aksed them to check what the problems were. Eventually, the problems were found and two parts were replaced.

One is PVC Nipple (HOSE), it is leaking air. New one is 118 pounds
The other is mass air flow. The mass air flow sensor was found to be high S.F.
The new mass air flow is 203 pounds
All labour is 118pounds,
After plus VAT, the total is 450.03pounds.
They also reset the airbag warning light and service light on my dash board by costing nothing.

Now the car was tested by me on M8. I eventually realize the style of Scandinavian. Now the car accelerate is perfect. It made me unhappy before being fixed. It was actually slower than SKODA Octavia 1.9Tdi, when a private hire car was racing with me. Now I increase speed from 50mph to 70mph just 2seconds.

Finally, I know someone will say the cost is so high in dealer. But I would like to say that you won’t feel any regret after you choose car dealer to fix your car, particularly those important parts such as engine and gearbox. I agree with you that I will never choose dealer to change oils, air filter or brake discs and tyre because these simple works are not worthy to the cost from dealer.
