Bought my 2002/52 D5 volvo V70 in 2004 at 85000 miles. Problems with the driver info module (DIM) started in 2005; Volvo said car was out of warranty and problem would cost megabucks to fix.
Basically all guages go off warning lights all on. Then works fine again. Flashes like this every 7 sec. Problem was intermittent at first, the got worse until doing it all the time.
Jan this year the indicator annunciator stopped working (indicators still work fine, but no light or sound in car.)
Now the b* guages have gone off altogether so I'll have to get it fixed.
Problem is, is the fault in the CEM, the DIM, the wiring, or the relay (2/29 CM122) that feeds power to the DIM?
Computer readout last year shows erratic fault readings from the CEM (listed below) and no faults from the DIM.
Fault codes 6A03, 8F12, 1A53, 8F02, 1A52, 6C11, 6A01, 6A02, 6C46 all intermittent.

That sounds like my issue where network cables became frayed under drivers seat and sending cars communications haywire..before parting loada cash with dealers check under seats

Trying to find various bits of the electrical system I moved the drivers seat. Lo! the b* dash came on again -just for a second. How do you get at the harness, and what can you do to fix it?
I dont really fancy getting the harness replaced - it looks a big job!
At least it shows the problem most likely isnt the DIM or CEM.
Think I might try the relay that feeds power to the DIM - could moving the drivers seat have tripped the relay?
Sorry this is incoherent the problem has my head spinning.

This is common problem of Volvo-s S60, V70, XC70 manufactured between 2001-2003.
The problem is in voltage regulator (L4925N) located in DIM. DIM manufacturer is Yazaki.
You need to replace this voltage regulator.
When you replace to new one make sure that connection with radiator is good. (use special paste, the same paste used in PC between radiator and processor)

Hi all,
I have a problem on my V70 2002 dashboard. The dash go off and then after random time go up again. The airbag service alarm is on. It seems that moving the trip to reset the t1 and t2 chilometers, the dash go up again (not always).

Shuold I have the same problem with the voltage regulator?
