I have a 1999 C70 Covertible with 52K miles on it. I bought it a few months back but still notice that the doors don't shut 'well' It takes a hard slam on the drivers side especially to get the doors 'all the way' shut. I'm constantly having to open and reshut the doors to get them all the way closed.

I'm wondering if there is a door adjustment of some kind that could remedy this problem? Advice?

Thanks!

Jeff

You make no mention of how the door actually appears. Does the door sag when in the open position. The screws for the lock catch in all the way. Is the door courtesy light seated all the way. Mine had a broken clip and would protrude from the edge of the door slightly. This caused me to have to slam the door to get it to shut sometimes. Ask some of the other guys how the doors fit on their ragtops.
Good luck.

Could it be your window is out of alignment?

I have the opposite problem......it takes a hard pull to open my doors. They seem to close ok.
Anyone know what else could be causing an extra hard tug to open the car doors?

I had the driver side window realigned but this hasn't helped the problem. I'm not sure they did a proper job since the loud wind noise that I used to get in the front of the window moved to the rear....just not as loud.

I'm not sure how this effects door opening/closing but if it's getting caught in the rubber track or at the top (my window used to extend too far at the top), I'd think it could have an impact. Not a very well designed part of the C70.

Other than the already posted possibilities which I'll look into, any ideas on why the needed extra force to open the doors?

thanks for the info. so yes, this only occurs when the top is up and the windows are up (spring has arrived and I've had the top down & the doors work fine w top down)

is there some adjustment that I can do to the windows? they basically are up too high so hit the top of the convertible top when closing &

I thought it could be the latch also because it's intermittent.

When it does happen, it's as if I'm going to pull the handle off to open the door.

I should have had them check it when they tore apart the window mechanism.

If you find a fix for the latch, let us know.

Have you tried opening the door using your hand and thumb?!? Try it! You'll be scratching your head wondering how that makes a difference. Our passenger door fit the description given and figured original owner didn't have passengers and the door release hadn't seen much action in 5 years. Had concerns that we would pull the handle out of the door! So one day, right hand on handle/thumb on fixed portion...Ahhhh!

"Hey, JT! Come here and try this!!!" It was a Kodak moment! :)
