I'll try to make this brief as I have a tendancy to ramble....
79 volvo 244 fuel injected 2.1 engine. Was running fine and dandy until yesterday when, while pressing the brakes, the car started sputtering. Turns out the more electrical things that were on the rougher the car would run, turn on everything and it would die (but no without a fight )

Well then the car needed to be jumped to get it to start and it ran poorly all the way home. Then it would only run if I had battery calbes hooked to another car, remove cables, car dies. Replaced battery with a new one and everything worked fine, until the next day when it needed to be jumped again, but then it ran fine all the way home and started right up the next time I tried.

So...was the jump I needed with the new battery just a fluke? My alternator goin out? (I just replaced it last year) Bad ground somewhere? Medicated man babbling too much? Yes I am

Thanks for your help I just need a second diagnosis cause my girlfriend drives it normally car and I wouldnt want her to get stranded.......again

Sincerely,
weirdwaldo the verbose

sounds like alternator failure/fusible link to me. Check the charge light comes on before cranking, and off abt 2sec after start, idle 750rpm. Batt Voltage 14.7V charging. With charged battery there should only be a very small spark if you disconnect battery earth and strike it over the terminal with everything off. Big spark means something is on/shorted. Does she drive in dusty areas, or has the car been deep in water? Hope you can get warranty.
