My 850 gas guage reads full when full but 2/3rds when at half and 1/3 when empty. The low fuel light is still correct so the float must be working. Any ideas on what is wrong or how to fix it?

I am GUESSING that the gauge is faulty? But naaaah, those things dont go out that easy.

I would still say it has something to do with the floater mechanism.

has this only happened once or is it a re-occuring problem..? ive had it happen on a couple of cars, and filling up completely seeming to fix it everytime..as if something was stuck??

do you have a trip computer...does that read correctly, if you do, and it does..my guess would be the gauge aswell...as far as im aware they both read from the same source.
