I just picked up a "new" 2004 XC90 2.5T and I love it so far. It has the 18" wheel option and the previous owner installed Michelin 235/50R18 tires that I really do not like. The speedometer reads high and it is impossible to get a real handle on my gas mileage. Also the odometer is adding fictious miles due to the smaller diameter tires.
I am wanting to go to a larger tire, but don't like what I read about any of the 235/60R18" tires. My favorite is the Michelin Cross Terrain 235/65R18 as it is less expensive, has a higher wear rating, and comes with a factory 65,000 mile warranty.
My concern is in installing a somewhat larger tire than the recommended 60 profile. I know that the speedometer will read slightly low, but closer than before. I emailed Michelin today and asked if they intended to make this tire in a 235/60R18 and they said "Not in the near future".
Has anybody installed the 235/65R18 on their XC90? Good? Bad? OK?

I may be back to the recommended size now as I located a set of Kumho tires the correct size at a real bargin. At this price, they could almost be considered a "Try them and throw away if you don't like them." They are almost new take-offs from something else. Never heard of this brand, but can't find anything bad about them - so far.
