Can anyone answer this question about the operation of the wastegate on my 1987 740 turbo? First, I blew off a small pcv like hose and my turbo failed. I then repaired the hose and the car ran but there was no turbo boost. The turbo spins, the hoses are intact but still no turbo. After removing the whole turbo configuration, I found the wastegate to be frozen in place. I was able to get another turbo unit from a local parts yard. The gate on this unit opens and closes but it is very, very stiff and I don't what kind of force it sould take to open and close this gate. Does anyone know what kind of movement I can expect from a typical working wastegate?
