I have a 2002 Volvo C70 and I was wondering if I could upgrade my key to the flip key? Anyone know if this is possible? My key right now is just the boring old Volvo key, and my friend makes fun of me for it LOL.

Thank you

Poke him in the eye with your old style key. I think the blanks are the same so they should work. Dealer could tell you for sure.

So you are going to take the dealerships word and just throw your hands up in the air and give up?

What you are attempting to do is kinda like fitting a square peg in a round hole. Why not give it a try if it is that important to you. Your 02 works on the principle of taking a rf signal from your chipped key to tell the car's immobilizer it is the correct key. Buy a switchblade key and get it cut for your car.
Option 1: Take the chip from your key and put it into the new key's housing, this setup would keep the factory immobilizer working.
or
Option 2: Place your old key by the immobilizer ring to make the car start, this setup will bypass the immobilizer permanently.
or
Option 3: Remove the factory immobilizer.

Whatever you decide you either have to do it, or pay someone to do it.

BTW I feel the caps are unnecessary.

Did the dealer give you a price on a new key? I've only got one and should probably get another before I lose it/lock it in the car.

Blade would be very nice but it seems like too much trouble. Isn't there an extra key on it that won't work with the C70?
