hope someone can help me..my heater/air cond controls don't work such as the fan control. I have checked the fuses and they are ok. I didn't know what else to check to locate the problem. Possibly a relay???? your help is greatly appreciated

Hi Revriff. I drive an 1998 S40 T4. Recently the Recycle and Ac lights flash after I switched on the engine, after which neither the ac nor the fan worked. Going through quite a few forums, I found the problem was a faulty power transistor in the blower motor control module that controls the fan speed. See the link below

I replaced the MJ802 transister with a similar one myself and it worked fine afterwards.

If you don't want to do this yourself you could buy the unit from the dealer. The part number should be 30864189.

You could check that the fan and AC still works though. I found that by disconnecting the connection to the blower motor control module and then start up the engine, the lights don't flash and the fan comes on only when set to max (level 5) and cold air could be felt when the AC was switched on.

Hope this helps. By the eay, if your car do not have the climate control, then the blower motor control module would be just a resistor array.
