I am running a little low on antifreeze. (New volvo owner) I noticed that there is a sticker that suggests to use "Volvo" formul antifreeze. Is this a must or will a good high quality alternate brand suffice? My nearest dealer is 3 hours away. (tough to get parts and service)

Your antifreeze will be Ethylene glycol. Any antifreeze that lists this as the main ingredient will be suitable, probably all availible antifreeze you can buy is based in that. Top up with a 50/50 mix of tap water.
