Hello All,

While backing up, I hit a post and cracked the back passenger side tail light. I could just take it to the dealer and have them buy the part and replace but I am guessing the cost on that would be through the roof.

My second option is buying a new (quotes at about $125) or used (quotes at about $75 + shipping) piece online and having my local mechanic install ($110 per hour). My questions are: what do you think the cost differential will be? what should I watch out for when buying volvo parts (new or used) online? how difficult will it be to install?

Any other advice would also be appreciated. Thanks!

Check ebay. I've bought struff there for my cars and you can usually get a better deal.

I called V and S Auto Dismantlers in California.
All their parts are in really good shape.
I replaced a tail light assembly for a 94 Volvo.
The replacement looks noticeably better than the original.
The plastic is in better shape, shinier, etc.

Ordering parts is not an online thing. The website is really useful for info only.
Call them and ask for what you want.
They'll quote you a price and send it out pronto.
