Smell In Car, I have a wierd smell in car when stopped

Newbie Group: Members Posts: 12 Joined: 16-February 08 Member No.: 38,489 Status: Location: Idaho, USA Drives: 2001 Volvo S40	There is an interesting smell that is noticable when the car is stopped. (2001 S40 99000 miles). It smells like oil that is left on the manifold that burns off after you dribble some when changing the oil. It has persisted for over a week now and I do not see any leaks under the vehicle. Does anyone have any ideas?

Senior Group: Members Posts: 248 Joined: 12-September 06 Member No.: 19,651 Status: Location: Tucson, Arizona Drives: 2002 Volvo S80-T6 and 2001 Chevrolet Suburban	:blush: Its probably oil seepage from the engine onto the hot manifold that disapates rapidily and only noticed after you've parked (The smell)...Would not smell while driving as the wind would mask the oil smell.... Would think if you really had a good look in all the darkest areas of your engine after you've driven awhile you would locate the leak..... Possible others have ideas also...Goo luck...

Total cost of $4 and a lot of scraped knuckles. You can do it, but be aware it must be installed by very small Swedish Trolls! 8^) -Steve
