Does anyone know if there is an internal light bulb to the quartz clock that is not in the main instrument cluster? I cannot read the clock at night. I am not sure how to take the clock apart. The clock itself does work though. I have a 1987 240 GL wagon.

There are 2 light bulbs that illuminate the main cluster. Make sure one of them has not blown. If they are both O.K. The rheostat what controls the brighten my be worn. You can bypassthis by connecting the 2 sets of wires together.
Another option is to

The 52mm clock DOES have it's own bulb. In order to replace it you have to pull the clock from the dash and disassemble the clock.

Carefully remove the bezel surrounding the clock [don't break the tabs]
Disconnect the power feed from the back of the Tach [you might have to pull cluster]
Pull clock out of dash frame

Oh the 52 mm clock... GL... I thought you meant the large clock. My bad.
The light is attached to the green wire. The original bulbs are 1.2W. You can get them from Advance Auto. There is a higher watt bulb (2.4W?) in the same size that is much brighter than the original. I use these and have had no problems with them. There may be enough slack in the wiring harness it allow you to replace the bulb without having to detach the harness from the tachometer. A putty knife is a handy tool for removing the bezel without breakage.

I did find the clock bulb, it was just hard to pull out. Everything works and is lit up properly now.
