A "check engine light" illuminates on the instrument panel of my 2001 X Country (V70) at regular intervals indicating the need for scheduled maintenance. Since I elect to change the oil in my car, the message remains. I am unable to recycle the light. (Vs. paying a Volvo dealer to change the oil at a much greater cost and having the mechanic cycle the message off). I recently had some warranty work performed & the dealer told me I would have to pay a fee to have the message light turned off. This seemed ridiculous! :(
Can anyone tell me how to recycle the "check engine light"?

The Check engine light means there is something wrong with the car.If you just had warranty work done they should have fixed the problem then.

If you have the SERVICE LIGHT on do a search on this forum for service light reset. You will find instructions on how to reset.

Right you are! The light in question IS the "service" light. I'm sorry but doing a search did not turn up the information needed to recycle the service light. Could you be so kind as to tell me how it is done? Thank you
