I picked up my black 2002 C70 coupe today - click the link for details and pics.

The dealer was selling it as it but I did get a third party 3 year/36000 mile warranty. Sounded like a good idea at the time though I guess I'll see whether it was worth it or not. Its through Continental Warranty, Inc (which I guess is different than Continental Warranty since there are two websites). If they turn out to be a**holes who won't cover a thing I'm sure I can find enjoyable ways to get even.

Observations and thoughts on the car so far:

It does ride rough with 17" wheels and low profile tires. They're also noisy particularly in turns. My dad has a 2007 V70 R and he says the ride is the same. I haven't driven his car enough to know though the feel is the same from passenger seat in either car. Bumps are much less noticeable when you're not driving.

There is some wind noise at highway speeds. Its really not that bad. If I was coming from another luxury car and buying the C70 new maybe I'd complain. I'm coming from a worn 240 and at least now I can have a conversation with passengers in peace.

I didn't notice any noise from the sunroof. Or any obvious rattles or clunks from the interior in general. I didn't drive it that long, I'm sure something's going to rattle around - it is a used car.

My driver's and passenger's windows have faint scratches. <_< That really annoys me. They aren't that bad but who has scratched car windows??? Does anyone know if they can be fixed without totally replacing the glass? Of course the cause would have to be fixed too which seems unlikely. Windows do go up and down OK though the passenger one seems slightly slower than the driver's.

The paint has more touchups than I remember but overall the car still looks great. The interior was better than I thought it was. Hopefully some Leatherique rejuvenating oil will make it even better. There are minor nicks in the rear interior panels from people getting in an out. I'll have to see what I can do about those.

All the power functions of the seats work. That was the first thing I checked on the lot. My parents and I went to dinner tonight and I offered to ride in the back. I warned them about moving the seats and getting in. My mom complained for about 5 mins each getting in and getting out. The power-forward feature is just really stupid.

The bulb out light is on but I have no idea what's out. We couldn't find anything.

One of my headlight wipers is broken. I think the blade's OK but the part that holds the washer fluid tube is broken. Can I go all the way back to the 850 for one of these? Or just S70/V70?

The car never had the upgraded factory stereo and what was there was replaced with a Kenwood KVT-717DVD DVD player. I always thought a TV/DVD player in a car was stupid but it's actually kind of fun to watch it as a passenger. Looked great at night, not so good during the day. Otherwise its complicated, need to RTFM.

Quite awhile ago I bought a 780 off ebay - 1989 turbo, white. It was running OK but I knew it needed some work. It did make the trip from FL to PA without trouble. The interior is pretty much torn apart now and its not going anywhere anytime soon. But I'm curious now to compare the two. The ride in the 780 is definitely softer but they both seemed about the same when accelerating at highway speeds.

All the paperwork from the last sale (to the 2nd owner) was still in the car. The CarMax "no-haggle" price was $26,900 in 2004. I paid about half that.

The car's much bigger than what I'm used to. Maybe I'll go with something smaller in awhile.

congrats on the c70. and welcome to the forum. the scratches are probably some dirt that has been caught in the "rubber squeegies" that clean the window as it goes down. clean your windows thorougly and open/close them to clean them off. the interior is unfortunate, but a little prevention now will keep it from getting worse. your idea is good. now does the car have a full service history? if poss. get the haynes manual so that you have a book in case, and jump over to the c70 forum and look and ask around. glad to have you.

I'll see what I can do about the windows. Driving it again today its really not that bad but I've heard enough of the "why do you drive these old cars" stuff which will turn into "why does your car have such weird problems" pretty easily. People who don't love cars just don't understand my family. :)

The interior really isn't bad. Its just got some lines in the leather where its worn. I wouldn't even bother doing anything more then a bit of cleaning and a good conditioning at this point. I'm just really picky. I read alot on leatherique's website which is informative but a mess. They actually recommend putting dye on with brushes. Part of what's held up the 780 work for so long was me putting off buying a good compressor and spray gun to redye the vinyl and plastic parts that had faded in the Florida sun. I'll have to try brushing it on a hidden spot when the weather warms up. The leather in the 780 really is in great shape but I'll redye that too since I want everything matching. Different parts in the car seem to have faded to various shades of tan.

Oh I've been reading the forums. Page by page in several forums looking for anything with C70 in the title. And plenty of google searches.
