I have the sport option with bi-zenon HLs and am not able to figure out how to use the switch to have the HLs off during the day. the settings on the left and right seem to not turn off the HLs when it is daylight. the setting in the center leaves only running lights and does not turn off when the car is shut down. the instructions in the manual are not clear . can anyone help?

i think if you leave it on 0 (the left most position), the manual claims the car will automatically turn on the xenons when its dark and run the other 'running lamps' when its light out. ive seen them switch when pulling into the garage, the xenons are blue, the day runners are whiter. then putting it to the 0= (right most switch) locks in the xenons. so we leave it on the left most. the last s80 (pre 2007) had the same stupid switch and we left it on the right most position, b/c i thought that seemed correct...

How will the tail lights be affective when day light ends? Can you leave the light switch in the"0" position and will all the lights (head and tail) switch into the the night mode. Would a better choice be - to have the running lights be disconnected through Volvo dealer software, requiring the driver to manually turn headlights on and off.
