Have new 2008 S40 2.4i, now 4,500 miles.

Last night got into the car at the parking lot after running a few errands and would not start. Message on the screen said "immobilizer" which I assume to be something with the alarm.

I got out, locked the car a few times then unlocked and after a couple tries it finally started and drove fine since.

Any ideas on why this could happen to a brand new car?


Also, there is a rattle over rough roads that seems to come from the steering column right around where the lever is to adjust. Any ideas on faulty defects or just the way it was made. I am still getting used to the very light weight of this car as my last car (older BMW 6 series coupe) was a 3,800 lb tank.
