I'm new to the Volvo world. I just bought a 1996 850 wagon and am trying to tell if it has keyless entry or a factory alarm. I didn't receive a remote, but it does have the red led in the centre of the dash near the windshield. Does this mean it has an alarm or is that led also on the vehicles without the alarm option?

Thanks

welcome to the forum.. congrats on the 850. when you use your key and lock the car, does the little led light, light up? now, open the windows, and get out and lock the car as usual, then reach in and open the door. does the alarm go off?

I don't know what trim level mine is - there is no badging other than 850. I assume it probably didn't come with it.

Is there an easy way to tell what trim level the car is?

leather, sunroof, upgraded stereo, front/rear spoiler, turbo, hubcaps or rims, wood-like dash, power seat, heated seats....any of these?

Check your VIN with your dealer, i think they can tell you.

Yes, all 1997 came with optional keyless entry.

Leather, sunroof, upgraded stereo, alloy rims, heated seats, fog lights, headlight wipers, winter package...

No spoiler, non-turbo, no woodgrain, manual seats, manual climate control.
