This is my first posting. Thinking about new V50, How long is for new V50 Guarantee?
Is possible to have extension & How much money for it ?
What do you think about V50 1.8 petrol <budget limited :( >

underpowered, get the diesel.

The V50 guarantee is 2 years. In some cases you get guarantee extension by local volvo dealer (talk with yours) but then it's the dealer's guarantee not volvo factory.

As for the engine choice, I did a test drive of the 1.8 and the 2.0 petrol V50.
My opinion is that a budget reasonable choice is the mazda/ford 2.0 petrol engine that gives decent performance for the weight of the car. For my taste, the 1.8 had to be pushed hard (especially in city driving) resulting in more engine noise and fuel consumption, while the 2.0 petrol I bought enables me for a more relaxed driving.
If you can get the 2.0 diesel, then you get sporty accelerations, and better fuel economy (but also diesel noise in city driving).
However if you are not a fan of performance the 1.8 may also be a decent choice. In my country this is the most sold engine for the v50 and s40, but we haven't diesels.
My advice: test drive before you buy.
