I'm having the same problem sverigecar wrote about on 12/20/07. After replaceing the battery, the car won't start, but the alarm sounds with the four way flashers flashing. I had to disconnect the battery to shut the thing down. How do you reset the system?

Called the dealer. Recommended I bring the car in so they could put it on the scope to check it out. Couldn't or wouldn't tell me anything over the phone. Called AAA out to tow the vehicle. When I explained the problem, he tried. The horn sounded, the lights flashed and the car would not start. He took the key, put in the drivers door and locked and unlocked it a couple of times. The horn stopped and the lights stopped flashing. He put the key in the ignition, and it started.
He explained, anytime the battery is removed, you have to reset the system by turning the key in the driver's door. This is there anti-theft device.
It sounds like another dealer (Pleasanton Volvo) trying to make another quick buck at our expense
