Hi, I've owned a 2005 V50 2.0D SE (in Europe) for 3 years now - a few months ago the car developed a problem where the engine would go into "emergency mode" and would not go over 2000RPM's.

After taking it to a local Volvo dealership 3 times they finally seem to have spotted the problem and replaced a temperature sensor in the particle filter. I am still a bit baffled though - since I bought the car, the engine just seems underpowered for a 2.0D Turbo diesel - the car simply does not have that sudden surge of power at about 2K RPM's that you'd expect from a 136bhp turbo diesel.

Having explained this to the guy which serviced my car, he told me that my car came from a batch where the engine was tweaked to deliver 120bhp due to emission controls in some European countries. I find this extremely bizarre...

Any ideas ?
