I have a 1987 244 with an Auto transmission. It has been acting a little strange this winter.
It seems to have trouble shifting from 1st to second (it catches slightly and takes a little longer than 2nd to 3rd) and then when slowing, there is a slight "hiccup" when going from 2nd to 1st gear. by hiccup i mean that it feels like the car is almost going to stall and then lurches forward slightly as it shifts into 1st. My mechanic could not recreate the issue so he has no idea. My transmission fluid is fine Once the car warms up, the symptoms do not show up as often, but they still do. The car has 132,000 miles and has had oil changes every 2000-3000 miles its entire life. It has never had any transmission work in the past besides the normal changes. Any suggestions? |

when was the tranny fluid last changed? if it is time to change, go for a full synthetic fluid. i've seen things like that go away with a simple tranny fluid change. are there any other problems with the tranny? reverse, etc.?

No other problems with the transmission, reverse works fine, once past that first shift it's smooth through all the way up. |
