Im looking for some help on this, I dont think its anything serious but i was wondering...
I have an 02 S80 2.9 but with the upgraded 17" rims from the t6, so my tyre size is 225/50/R17... nothing too big...
Anyway at low speeds, when i lock the wheel all the way to one direction and put down a little bit of power, I tend to hear a rubbing, possibly grinding noise. From what I can understand, it doesnt affect the driving in any way and I seriously doubt that the tyre will be rubbing on the whell well.. Anyway, whatever suggestions I can get as to what ca be the cause will be greatly apreciated.
Thanks,
Nicolas

Rubbing is normal, I have the same tire size and profile and mine rubs too on a full turn.

I may be strange to think this, but isnt it odd for the car to rub? Im sure there is some kind of wheel lock to prevent it going so far as to rub on the wheel well...
Someone suggested that I take a look at the steering stops and see if they need replacing

Nope, its rubbing, this is common complaint about Volvo. On full turn to locks, the tires will rub on the inner well. This happens with the standard rims/tires, as well as any upgraded ones you may add.

Will this have any long term effects on the tyres? Eg. uneven wear from the inside and so on.. I doubt it should but its worth asking I think.

As long as you're not racing around with the wheel fully clocked, no, not really. If you abuse the car though, and love to speed as you navigate through a tight turn, well then, yes, you're going to start to see some wear.
