Hey! and thanks for any responses forthcoming.

I put up a post at the 940-960 forum last night and haven't recieved a response yet.

I was following the recent posts here (740-760) about the person who had his car towed home and it starts and runs some, tinkering with the mass air flow meter and is recieving numerous responses.

I understood that the difference between the 740 and the 940 was BODY stuff?
thought that if the engines are basically the same someone here might lend me some advise?

AHAAA!

Well now, from what I think I have learned; the engines in the 940 and the 740, the B230F of the 1991 +/- vintage may be quite the same. But we do need to identify the version/type of ignition system installed as well as the fuel system on specific models. Couple that with a good reference for retrieving codes and their individual meanings and I was well on my way.

It's great to be able to solve your own problems with almost no help!

FOLLOW UP;

I replaced the crank sensor on my 91 940 turbo B230F/B230FT, seems to be starting reliably.
In hindsight, if I had better understood, I would have pulled the sensor and looked first. The sensor had rust on the sensor contact end and may have been fine if I had done a light brushing with emory(sp) cloth or other and reinstalled, but the plug end did make a difference when I had unplugged and used electric contact cleaner spray and dielectric grease berfore reassembly. I saved the old sensor cable and carry the required tools just in case.

Hope this helps any others with a similar challenge :banana:
