i was just reading in the manual that "Your vehicle has no recommended tire rotation." so does this mean I should never rotate my tires? that seems a bit unbelievable... how often should i rotate my tires?

Most likely it means that the rotation recommendation is based on the tire manufacturer. For example, the Michelin Hydroedge tires on my sons 850 are a directional tire, meaning that they are supposed to rotate in only one direction, which means the rotation is from front to rear only, not front to opposite side rear, etc. The Fuzion tires on my S60 are not directional so they can be rotated as normally done.

The Volvo dealer in Rockville, MD informed me this past Saturday that Volvo no longer recommends rotating tires (although he said he would gladly charge me if I requested they rotate mine!)
He pulled up the service bulletin from Oct 07 indicating as such...

That's crazy. OK, I might see as why you wouldn't rotate on an AWD car, but on a FWD there is going to be differential wear and rotating the tires is going to increase the life span. Sounds like Volvo is in cahoots with the tire companies to sell more tires.

Sorry but I'll go with the recommendation of the guy who sold me the tires and says to rotate every 5,000 to 7,500 miles.

you know, just my two cents worth here, if you purchase your tires from Costco/Price Club or a BJ's, they offer free lifetime tire rotation. Whenever you need. If I am not mistaken, Sears does the same thing.
