Hey there,

last night one of my neighbours reversed his SUV and rammed into the driver side door of my S40. The problem is that he doesnt have insurance so i need to get it done out of my pocket and bill him or sue him later...

My question to all you guys with eagle eyes is this.

- Can a simple Dent/Paint/Rebuff job bring back the glory or Should i change the pannel or the whole door has to be changed and how much it will cost me ... i know it can vary so a ball park number of the cost will help me haggle with the car man !!!

This is my first Volvo.. so i am unsure of the rigidity of the door pannel .. but my initial guess is that a Dent/Paint/Rebuff job will do the trick.

Please help me out with answeres here.. i am attaching the pictures for your better view..

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

 Am not a body/fender repair person although last year had a new F150 slide into me damaging the L/R door and rear panel...It was determined by two repair shops that it would be much better to replace rather than repair and cost wise not much different....This was done ad came to almost $2,000 dollars...

The only drawback was the two weeks waiting for parts....
I my opinion think I'd go for new panel and trim....Good luck

I agree with damotu, i would rather have them use a used door as opposed to reapairing this one. the reason being is that I have seen how they do doors now. Alll they do is pull it to a semblance of straight and slather on the body filler. Now, other shops do it differently, but I have seen three shops do this. the only shop that didn't do that was those show cars shops. but then you are talking hand shaping and the like. super big money. talk with the shop and see how they would do it. the rigidity is not in question here, it is the integrity of the repair. body filler looks good and then it starts to degrade. i can recommend some shops if you want the typical work done. they'll probably quote you like 1300.00 or thereabout. the call is yours in the long run. good luck.
