Volvo 2002 XC 70 - The passenger door lock and electric window works only intermittently. After I opened up the panel and removed the control board (the board complexity is actually quite amazing) and trying to clean up contact and reassemble I came to the conclusion that only an exchange will do.
I called two Volvo dealers in New York City and was told they did not have the part in stock. Go to go to the parts dept. order, pay for it and come back the day after. Two trips to the dealer and a $250.00 price tag. I thought ... (expletive). But if it is the price... even that hard to swallow then got to do it. I still was trying to save myself one trip and decided to call the Volvo dealer in New Jersey closest to NYC. Been told the same thing (don't have it, order it, come back) but even if we did have it you still need software (yes you read it correctly !!) to be downloaded for the part to work and for this the car has to be hooked up to a computer... Call service. Thank you ! Hello Service: Well, yes part is $250.00 + labor $150.00. Total $400.00 to fix a broken locking door system and window opener !!! Are you kidding me !!! As anyone a more justifiable expense to remedy to this problem. I cannot believe a software is actually needed to unlock a door and allow a window to open and close ! |

Dont know if a PDM (passenger door module) is actually req for your car to be fixed but if it is then yes software is required to install the part (PDM reload).

I just had that fixed on the same year, same model. $150 for the passenger door lock sent from Volvo (Victoria BC) and $150 in labour here in Courtenay. No software involved.
The passenger door lock would pop back up after locking about half the time. I got good advice from Justanswer.com http://car.justanswer.com/questions/10sni-...r-locks-erratic Good luck |

Unfortunately it does look like a computer hook-up and a software download are needed for the replacing PDM part to work.
As advertised on autopartswarehouse.com "Part Number: W0133-1599730 Driver's Door It may be necessary to have a software update/ download before this new switch will work, please consult your Service Manual or contact your local Dealer.." |
