hello

So I have a 2000 v40 1.9d , when driving its very smokey , but drives ok untill 60-70 mph then at about 3 and a half thousand rpm it makes a rattling noise and all power dies lots of smoke . Always happens when accelerating past 3 1/2 revs once this happens you stop turn key off , turn key on start the car again and it runs good again untill you floor it again . Some people say air flow sensor some say turbo . Can anyone help or has anyone heard of this , Just been servced but had the problem before it was serviced as well .

Thanks

Andy

Ps : It came with no owners manual , ca anyone tell m where to download one please ?

To my knowledge the turbo should kick in around 1500rpm on the diesels, you should hear it, however a rattling noise does denote something mechanical at fault.
What happens if you rev to 3500 with the car in neutral and no load?

PS Loads of people seem to be deficient of a manual, however due to copyrights I have a hunch that noone is brave enough to post a copy on the web.

let me get this straight, you had your car service, it was doing this before the service and still afterward. why didn't you tell them off? i mean, you did bring it in for service and they didn't. i would go back to them and have them fix it. it sounds to me like there is a leak. the pressure is not making it to the turbo. either it is not working or the turbo inlet hose has come loose. just a guess here. hope that helps. good luck and keep us posted.
