Drives: 2008 XC90 V8 AWD
At around 1000 miles my 2008 XC90 V8 started having an issue with cruise control. After driving on the freeway for 5-30 mins, it will just disengage. I can reengage it and it may work for another 1 to 10 mins before dropping out again. Sometimes though the whole cruise control subsystem will crash and refuse to turn on for 10-30 mins.

By disengage I mean it goes from "cruise-on" to "cruse" in the display. By crash I mean it goes from "cruise-on" to "". Pressing the top button to turn cruise on will not turn it back on.

The dealer wants to schedule me for a service check 2 weeks out. Since this doesn't start happening until driving with it on for a while, I don't see that they are going to find the problem unless it's logged in the system codes, and I'm not keen on paying the to drive it for a few hours (and rack of the miles) just to say "gee, you are right".

Any suggestions?
